Frequently Asked Questions.

How do I know if I need therapy?

You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy. If you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck, anxious, depressed, having trouble with relationships, or just want to better understand yourself, therapy can help. It's a space to process thoughts and emotions, build coping skills, and improve overall well-being. If you're asking this question, chances are therapy could be beneficial.

What happens during a session?

A typical therapy session lasts about 45–60 minutes and involves talking with a therapy professional in a private, non-judgmental setting. The therapist may ask questions to understand your background and current concerns, help you identify patterns or challenges, and work with you on strategies to cope or make changes. It's a collaborative process, and you can always ask questions or guide the conversation.

Is everything I say confidential?

Yes, with a few important exceptions. Therapists are legally and ethically bound to keep your information private. However, if there's a risk of serious harm to yourself or others, or if there's abuse of a vulnerable person (like a child or elder), they are required to report it to protect safety. Outside of those situations, what you share stays between you and your therapist.

How long does therapy take?

The length of therapy varies from person to person. Some people feel better after a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term support. We’ll regularly check in to make sure the pace and depth of our work fits your needs.

How often should I attend sessions?

Weekly sessions are often recommended at the start to build momentum and consistency. Depending on your goals and progress, we may move to biweekly or check-in sessions later.

Frequently Asked Questions.

What if my partner or family member doesn’t want to attend?

Therapy can still be valuable even if only one person shows up. We can work on your communication, boundaries, and coping skills to help you navigate the relationship from your side.

Can I do both individual and couples therapy at the same time?

Yes, but it’s important to manage it ethically and effectively. We’ll explore what combination of services will be most supportive — and ensure everyone involved understands the boundaries.

What types of issues do you specialize in?

We work with a range of concerns — from anxiety, stress, burnout, and relationship issues to communication challenges, family conflict, and emotional regulation. If you're unsure if it's a fit, just ask.

What if I don’t know what to talk about?

You don’t need to prepare anything. Some sessions are structured, others more open. We’ll meet you where you are — even if that’s feeling unsure or stuck. That’s part of the process.

How do I know if therapy is working?

Progress can look different for everyone. You might notice shifts in how you handle stress, relate to others, or understand yourself. We’ll check in regularly to reflect on what’s improving and where support is still needed.
